Deficite is a calorie deficit, nutrition, and workout tracking app for iPhone. This policy explains what information the app uses, how it is handled, and what third-party services are involved.
What is Deficite
Deficite lets you track your calorie deficit, body weight, macronutrients, and workouts. You can search for foods by name, scan product barcodes, log meals, record training sessions, and export your data. It is published by Alejandro Ahijado Ibarra, an independent developer.
Data you enter
All data you enter — food diary, meal logs, body weight, calorie and macro targets, workout history, and any other personal information — is stored exclusively on your device.
This data is not transmitted to the developer or any third party.
No account or registration is required to use Deficite.
Food search
When you search for a food by name, the search term is sent to a backend server operated by the developer solely to fetch nutritional data from Open Food Facts.
The developer's backend server does not store your search queries or any information that could identify you personally.
Nutritional data is sourced from Open Food Facts. Their privacy policy applies to queries forwarded to their service.
Deficite can optionally read from and write to Apple HealthKit. This integration is entirely optional and must be explicitly enabled by you.
Data that may be read from HealthKit includes: steps, active energy burned, resting energy, body weight, and workout data — depending on the permissions you grant.
Data that may be written to HealthKit includes: dietary energy, macronutrients logged in Deficite, body weight entries, and workouts.
HealthKit data is accessed only on your device. The developer does not receive, store, or transmit any data from HealthKit.
You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security → Health.
Deficite lets you export your personal data (such as food diary history, nutrition summaries, weight log, and workout records) as files you can save or share.
Exports are generated entirely on your device. No data passes through the developer's servers during an export.
Once exported, the file is under your control. The developer is not responsible for how you share or store exported files.
Local storage
All personal data is stored locally on your device only and is not synced to any server controlled by the developer.
If you use iCloud backup or device migration, Apple's standard backup mechanisms apply and are governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Analytics and tracking
Deficite does not include any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or tracking libraries.
No usage data, behavioural data, or personal information is collected or sent to the developer or any third party beyond the anonymous food queries described above.
Data sales
The developer does not sell personal data. No personal information is shared with advertisers or data brokers.
Children
Deficite is not directed at children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected by a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of Deficite after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
